Sexy Stelliums – When Planets Gang Up

Stellium in Astrology

Sexy Stelliums – When Planets Gang Up

You’ve heard of conjunctions…when two planets are closely aligned to one another in the same part of the galaxy? A stellium is like a super conjunction. It’s when planets gang up. They HAVE to work together. They’re in squad formation. This is hot and productive when it is say – Mars, Venus, Saturn and Pluto but trickier when they astral vibes are not necessarily simpatico. Looking at you Mars, Neptune, Moon. From your knowledge thus far, picture that lot shacked up together.

Welcome to Sexy Stelliums!  When planets gang up so there is more than three of them in one place, voila it’s a stellium.  I am being flippant when i say “sexy” but a stellium is a pretty intense concentration of astral vibe. There is speculation that the “star of wonder” followed by the Kings/Queens to the birth of Jesus Christ was actually a super sexy stellium of Jupiter, Saturn and some other planets all in such tight alignment that they looked like one huge star.

This one will help you get a feel for how planets act in unison, in this case, a tight, abundant unison.

It’s called a Stellium.

You’ll find a few different definitions in various astro texts. Some authors say it involves four or more planets, some saying three, but basically a stellium is a grouping of (3-4 +, I’ve always gone with 3+) planets in either 1) the same sign or 2) the same house. If we call a conjunction two planets together in the chart, then the stellium is a super conjunction. Note that in ancient times, a conjunction was any planet in the same sign. We now say it must be within (at maximum) 10 degrees but for the stellium, which operates as a whole group we loosen up the orb rule.

To understand the meaning of the stellium, start with the basics:

Planets are like actors, they symbolize what the energy is.
Signs are their costumes, showing how the energy is expressed.
Houses are the stages or sets, where the action takes place.
Aspects are the scripts, the dialog between the actors.

When you have a stellium, you have an ensemble cast, all scripted to interact within their defined set, competing for center stage and possibly fighting over the same costumes.

What we can say about a stellium is:
1. They are intense.
2. They put a strong focus in the house(s) where they are found.
3. They amplify the sign(s) they are in.
4. They amplify the natural ruler* of the house they are in.
5. Every planet in the stellium wants to express fully.

Honor the focus

What the stellium requires undivided attention. This may or may not fit well with the rest of your chart/goals/nature. Finding ways to focus that don’t repress or make you lopsided is the key.

To get a handle on how a stellium works, watch what happens when it is activated by *transit. The Moon will make every possible aspect to the stellium once a month. Note anything interesting in your astro-journal (you’re all keeping one, right?) and also note aspects from the transits of Sun to Pluto as they occur.

Note when you are feeling empowered, productive, grounded, expansive and when you have contrasting emotions or stress. Also note how well you think the planets in the stellium get along. Ask, “Is everybody happy?”  Or bickering?

For example:
Let’s say someone has Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus in Leo in the 7th house. Ma/Ju/Ur might push for some totally yang adventure when it comes to partnerships. Great for biz; not so great for shared intimacy, at least that’s what the Moon thinks. It doesn’t matter if this is the chart of a man or woman. The moon might be subsumed by the yang planets because her nature is receptive and absorbing, not assertive and initiating. Being aware of this means finding was to live out the feelings (Moon) as well as the healthy aggression (Mars), the creative and carefree drive for adventure (Jupiter), and the will for autonomy and freedom (Uranus). It’s up to the person to allow every planet in the stellium a voice in the house it is found.

It helps to appreciate the plus side. The concentration of energy in one house shows where things matter the most and where you want to contribute to your clan, community or world. Scale doesn’t matter. Intention matters.  A stellium in the 2nd or 8th House?  You’re super into money and power at the spirit level and it’s got very little to do materialism, as such.

A stellium occurs when 3 or 4, or more, planets fall in a House or Sign. This “super conjunction” represents increased energy pouring into the activities of House(s) and/or Sign(s). It equates with a “do or die” focus related to the sign/planet/house involved. Seventh House stellium people Or people with a Libra stellium really value partnership and do not understand those who seriously don’t care whether they are in a relationship or not.

Looking at a friend’s chart – he has Sun, Merc, Jupiter, Uranus in Libra in the seventh house. Not far off Kimmy’s example sent out for the AH#13. What do you guys think?

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 2:34 pm

That is very similar to my example, but these are all “yang” planets. How does your friend go in biz relationships? It’s interesting because Libra wants to share, the 7th is about partnership, but Uranus wants to make their own decisions!

First chart would probably be about dealing with family history, with the past and making art out of it. Could have something to do with loss/grieving. Origins are very important – he would probably be hyper-sensitive to the influences of them (Neptune). A murky, but soulful family/origins history + the sadness of the balsamic moon + creativity of merc and venus in cancer + it seems like it would all end with words (a virgo NN, mercury being the last planet in a stellium, a gemini IC)
then maybe something original would come out of it, something that would set him apart from other creatives. maybe the output he produces will be less sentimental and more innovative, but still rooted in sentimentality (uranus in 10th, sag on the mc, a sort of a quincunx b/w the stellium and uranus)

    • Reply Somnambulista September 22, 2015 at 4:52 am

That’s a lot of heavy stuff in the houses of homes, fun, and family, largely in the most family driven sign. I agree that this person does something creative and driven by family.

      • Reply npavlovskaya September 22, 2015 at 5:29 am

or origins on a larger scale! with themes of loss/grieving, w/uranus so prominent, w/saturn in aqua i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s about ethnicity or something of that kind. more social than intimate.
or taking intimate and changing it in a cubist manner into something of a thing in itself.
the ‘outer world’ of the chart (houses 7-12) is a little bit cold, i can’t dismiss it

        • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 2:37 pm

Really interesting investigations. I love reading this.

Don’t forget Mars/Neptune. What images come up there? Hypersensitive, yes and leaning very strongly into the 5th!

  • Reply npavlovskaya September 22, 2015 at 2:36 am

i am never more than 3 planets in a house, but my 7 years old daughter has a 1st house party going on in her chart:
    (asc) moon, pluto
    jupiter, sun, mercury
so she’s a good cap and an optimist, easy to get along with. but i am noticing that maybe she is more self-conscious than most of her friends. she would never miss a glimpse in the mirror for sure, but there’s also something else – she is genuinely absorbed in matters of self-presentation. she wants to sing and dance.
honestly speaking, i am much more comfortable working with charts that have emphasis on 7th to 12th houses. the ‘inner’ houses i’m finding more difficult to grasp.

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 2:39 pm

That is quite a party in the first! This is Aries house and what ever she does that that potent focus, she’ll need to be the boss. Pioneer. Pave the way regardless of what others think she “should” do.

What house is ruled by Aries (has Aries on the cusp)?

      • Reply npavlovskaya September 28, 2015 at 2:14 am

this is interesting because she seems to me like the most compliant and easy to get along with child a parent might have. an easy child! but this is probably in combination with me and my scorpio asc+mars+saturn all within a couple degrees. people rarely argue with me, and she has been living with me since she depended on me 100%, so no wonder she had to learn the safe way of dealing with me.
aries rules her 4th, and just recently we have moved to a new place where she now has a room of her own where she has authority over pretty much everything, and i feel that it has helped her become more sure of herself. she has almost declined my offer to take her on a super-interesting trip next week (a Sag moon, huh??) while burying her nose in an ikea catalogue. she only agreed to come with us IF i promise to get her something really pretty for her room in a trip.

    I’ve got a 3 planet stellium!

    Uranus 1 degree Virgo
    Pluto 9 degrees Virgo
    Sun 11 degrees Virgo

All in my 7th House. I’m a real newbie so I can’t really guess much, but I am going to start the journal thing 🙂

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 2:42 pm

Yes Journal. That is so helpful.

Su/Ur/Pl is a powerhouse combination. You might have a variety of ways of expressing through the 7th house, partnership, one-on-one working with others, to live out the intensity! Analyzing relationships to create change?

I have Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in my 11th House. They seem like three big hitters to me. Not sure what to make of all that. Any help would be most appreciated

I also have Chiron, Sun and Mercury in the 6th house. I’m not sure what role Chiron plays.

Ok I have Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter in Sagg; Uranus Jupiter and Moon in 9th house; but Moon in Scorp.

Most of this makes sense. I’m an eternal learner, finish studying one thing and I’m onto the next but in a climbing/career-building way, not just being jumpy. Also love change/moving house/moving country/travel to far away mountainous places on my own. Jupiter Neptune and Uranus seem right at home.

I’m not sure what to think about my Moon… Maybe her placement is why I like to adventure on my own rather than with my partner – rebirth and change etc?

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 2:44 pm

I think Uranus in the 9th with Jupiter there is the solo explorer. Moon probably wants to take “home” with her wherever she goes!

I have been waiting for this hack! Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars in Aries in the 1st house. I am a performer and work with my image as my art, but am super conscious of my aggressive and bolshie nature and constantly check myself so as not to dominate others… this doesn’t always make me feel comfortable and I love when I’m around other outrageous extroverts. I’m a newby and working my way through this so would appreciate any interpretations.

What a powerful and tight See Saw pattern, so strongly influenced by Saturn, Neptune and Pluto.

I love how you say, my image as my art. Sun, Moon trine Neptune speaking there.

Keep a journal of transits across your Stellium, I would track Uranus who covers the whole thing in a 7 year period.

Mystic will go deeply into transits but if you want a brief tutorial on what they are and how to plot them in your chart (and journal them) check my short tut.

    I got a 3 planet stellium (+many rocks) in Virgo/2H.

I have a test of Mars approaching my Mars/Pluto/Venus (0/2/9°); help, l cant stop thinking about her. Pluto going direct in my 7H (yoo-bloody-hoo) stopping just within 3° trine of my Venus. Transiting Venus soon there over this stellium coming in the next 20 days or so. And Jupiter right over my Venus as l write. And, and, and Neptune in Pisces opposing all 3 in Rx. This will be interesting as l handle the building, budding attraction with my ‘since March incubatory’ Taurus femme. I am writing notes. I think l feel Pluto (stationing) in my rib cage; lm not joking. MM said this is ‘soulmate’ stuff and it is happening right now.

    Stellium a go-go

My Mars/Pluto is v dominant Scorp type Actor who can be very Venus fussy. My coffee has to be right; only in cafes. I am Cancer accomodating in a private residence. My eggs too. In a Virgo costume on a Taurus stage. I sure cant handle shoddy service, etc. I gotta wear natural materials. I dont ever want to go to New York or London bcos that was where NY-Lon was invented.

I just wanta tell her l love her but that will have to wait. I think she knows. (Idk what may have gave that impression.)

    • Reply Keith September 22, 2015 at 4:18 am

I also got Merc in 2H but is Leo. But 11° off the first (Mars) of the tighter cluster in Virgo

  • Reply Honey Dove September 22, 2015 at 4:11 am

I have a stellium that starts at 12 Libra and runs through my Asc- at 14 Scorp. It starts in the 11th-

    Venus 12 Li
    Sun 19 Li
    N Node 22 Li

    In 12th-
    Mercury 25 Li
    Moon 29 Li
    Neptune 3 Scorp
    Jupiter 7 Scorp
    Asc 14 Scorp

My 12th House is 23 Libra.

Loved what Kimmy said houses flavored by their natural ruler. Definitely more tom-boy Uranus than Libra Lady! Uranus rules!! Yes- quaint out of date terms.

Seem quiet and bookish, Scorp Rising- I bring shock element and the 13th fairy. Hate stuffy gatherings. Necessary evil in my work- I find a few like minded souls at the edge and escape ASAP.

Definitely qualify as a Highly Sensitive Person. Dorm living and woofers made me cry from the noise. Years of MMA have toughened me up to physical but still super sensitive to psychic noise.

Twelth house- Neptune flavored- frequently rendering aid/assistance. Like last night en route to bday dinner for my son, huge car crash right near home. We stayed and helped. Same thing happened a few years back- en route to daughter’s bday dinner. Uranus rules LOL!!

My share of zombies, Qi Vamps- I keep crisis lines on speed dial and biz cards handy.

Charity runs- yes. Charity teas-no. Travel yessss!!!

Secret: I love arcane rituals- and old rules of etiquette, chivalry, worship. Alchemy, astro, Wicca, Buddhism, yoga, tai chi…

But hate pretenders who use sanctity to disenfranchise peeps. See under: “Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism.”

And Dr. Seuss book “The Sneeches”

I am pretty ADHD and my mind races making connections between people problems and solutions. Keep journals- have tried every organizing book and method- including Konmari. Sentiment still rules.

Networker- problem solver. Weakness for capes.

Old me- everyone told me their problems- I carried them and thought it was my job to fix them. Never pursued my own goals. Felt guilty/anxious 24/7. New me- everyone tells me their problems. I give them resources and excuse myself to get to the dojo.

Is the second chart Martha Stewart? Wild guess.

  • Reply npavlovskaya September 22, 2015 at 4:20 am

and a side note! i mostly date/mate stellium people as of late.
a sun-merc-mars-venus-mc in leo is a recent acquisition
before that there was a sun-merc-venus-mars in virgo (i still with there would be an ‘after’ with this one!)
    before that – a sun-moon-merc-asc-ceres-vesta-SN-juno in pisces

i really, really like such people. they are a bit caricaturish. it’s easy to laugh at them and their quirks. they are great learning examples. for an astrologer. they MOST CERTAINLY have focus. a central theme.

    • Reply Keith September 22, 2015 at 4:43 am

Caricaturish! Hah!!! I did it today bcos Telstra have been stuffn me around for 4 mths. In fact l acted out, off the cuff, the unwritten 13th episode of “Fawlty Towers”. I said to the poor sod at Telstra today that “a dead elephant has better chance of rebuilding a Porsche engine than you guys have of providing me with the deal you promised”.

Stellia is correct for plural (more than one stellium) but we often hear (and say) stelliums.

    1 degree virgo Jupiter
    8 degree virgo Chiron
    20 degree virgo saturn

(does this count as stellium as they are very wide apart? Plus, does chiron join the sellium party, or do we leave him out of it?)

    4th house Libra:
    12 degree Libra Sun
    18 degree Libra Pluto
    23 degree Libra Venus

tracy lives i have the Sun-Pluto-Merc in Libra stellium too (but in 8th H, altho 4 H with ancient chart interp from the POF hack!).

Curious if you have found yourself in a Libra mediator type role in your family of origins, trying to balance out everyone elses needs or fight for justice in some way? your 3rd house also rules siblings i think…with chiron there not sure if that reflects any wounds etc or lessons. is this something you draw on and express creatively…through writing with jupiter there or the media?

either way, with your venus in 4H Libra I imagine you are a fabulous and glamorous hostess with the mostess 🙂

        Hi sofoc123, YES!!!

YES, to mediator role. Always anticipating everybodies needs. Always debating about injustices and defending the weak. This is getting a little smoother as I age. I do love taking care of things, but from another need than I use to have. Now it is much more from my heart. And I am not afraid of saying ‘NO’ anymore. So yay to taking care in freedom!

Writing, i am sooo drawn to writing. But i never really tried. Hahaha, as a kid i bought dozens of dairies and never seem to keep writing. Maybe need to pick it up.

Thank your for your insights, they are very helpful. I am currently doing a grouptherapy-thing and it came up that i always wanted to take care. Especialy of my mother. And when i did not do that I would feel guilty. It is never pressured upon me, it is just something i did. Very strange. Maybe some guiltfeelings i have from my birth. My mom slipt into coma during my birth. Did i unconciously take that responsibility?

Anyway, you are a great help!

Haha you’re welcome, I can relate! think the 4th also speaks of the father and issues there in case that’s helpful to explore. Interesting, yes perhaps you did…the mother-child connection in womb is strong.

Yay to you and boundaries! agree makes you give from a much better place that honors you too and making sure taking care of your own needs as well as others.

Do you have a beautiful home as well? 4th H Venus in Libra could perhaps also suggest some v. stylish / glam interior decorating or gourmet cooking talents (and used to cure any domestic issues :)) or that you are/ will be a charming yummy mummy

I have Pisces Sun, Venus and Mercury in the tenth house, with Mercury exact at 0 degrees on my Midheaven. So is this (crudely put) myself and my big heart and soothing words are right up there with my work and life’s mission? As I get older I find it harder to separate ‘job’ and ‘life purpose’ and I wonder if one day I’m going to be someone who helps heal people’s broken hearts. I spend a lot of time talking to people about their problems, they tell me everything. I walk around holding a lot of people’s pain and secrets (Chiron twelfth house) and I know where a lot of metaphorical bodies are buried. I have Melpomene close to the Midheaven as well, but over the border in Aqua 11th. Last night I spent nearly an hour with the guy who cleans my office (also an aqua) while he confided his loneliness. His wife has a mental illness and he is devastated. So sad.

  • Reply ICPluto September 22, 2015 at 5:35 am

I have Saturn, Mercury, Venus and Mars in Toro, 11th house (Mars wanted to jailbreak from Saturn and in Equal House can be interpreted as being in my 12th- still inToro though). But the first three planets are pretty tight, with Saturn being the leader of the pack. I have a great fondness for my stellium, being a Gemini AC, Aries Sun and Kataka Moon, the Toro grounding energy has kept me “sane” when I needed most. I am now aware of these energies, and try to tap into them whenever I feel I am drifting away. The 11th house being the natural house of Aqua gives me hope for when Uranus starts his tour in Toro, after conjuncting my Aries Sun. Yay, I guess 🙂 Lately, I have been pretty much attracted to Uranian energy. My stellium also makes (mostly) nice natal aspects to the rest of my chart, but the last transits haven´t been so kind-Saturn in Scorpio in my 5th house was a nightmare and the Pluto in Capricorn in 7th trine did not help matters! I am starting a Neptunian transit to my stellium next year-super vigilant to make those sextiles happen, since my NN will be involved too 🙂

oh and my ideas about the mystery chart: probably a singer with all those placements in Toro 🙂 2nd house makes me think it is her natural talent (voice, interpretation) that feeds her, literally. Uranus there may show someone unconventional, who rubs the status quo the wrong way. Pluto in Leo – vanity and staying young at all costs, Moon in Leo – loves the stage. Detail oriented, focused (Virgo NN 6th house), hard working (Cap Part of Fortuna). Pisces Venus 12th house, Neptunian arts, beauty that is not “in your face”.

    • Reply ICPluto September 22, 2015 at 7:44 am

The first chart was harder to analyze, but I would say a man that liked talking about emotions (Kataka) in a creative way (5th house) and was prolific and very good at it. I look at his chart and have a sense of longing- it´s all that Kataka/Neptune in the 4th energy 🙂 At the same time his Aries Jupiter 2nd house trine his Sag Uranus 10th shows expansion and a natural openness for adventure. One last note, 2nd house Jupiter square 5th house Venus/Mercury, I´d be more inclined to say many lovers instead of many children in his life (his words woo his lovers and feeds his creativity) 🙂

      • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:27 pm

“his words woo his lovers and feeds his creativity”

Again, brilliant, You have just read their bio, or so it seems.

I think it must be Pluto on the IC (you have this literally, right?) that can delve so accurately into “what” a person is.

        • Reply ICPluto September 22, 2015 at 7:12 pm

Kimmy, the Toro stellium woman has a very organized chart. Kataka man was harder, all that energy concentrated in one place radiating throughout the rest of his chart. These exercises are amazing, thank you! And yes, Pluto on the IC here 🙂

It’s like you just read this Taurus stellium’s bio.

  • Reply Kellie September 22, 2015 at 6:12 am

I have my sun, jupiter and mercury in the 11th house. That’s it. I do have a whopping social/eco conscience and tend to broadcast it on social media. A lot of my sense of community comes through online interactions these days an it seems to be the main way I keep in touch with my friends (the real ones). I am also one of those people who will not say no to friend requests unless there is a good reason. Innocent until proven guilty!

Now the second chart make me think performer/artist- all that Leo. The heavy taurus element, the body, music? Someone expansive and ‘out there’. The venus in Pisces makes me think she might have been iconic in some way like Marilyn. But a hard worker like Madonna (not that Marilyn didn’t work). Oddly I get the impression I would like her.

The first chart, I have no idea, other than I suspect he had a lot of kids or lovers. Or both.

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:33 pm

I like your expression of the 11th – that feeling and connection to community. Good example!

I think you would/do like her! And yes, you’re spot on. Of Norma Jean worked hard, but she was also shaped and honed, plastic surgery, coaching, elocution . . . she was taught to become someone else. Maybe this is true of anyone in the performing arts, but I think you’ll find that chart #2 didn’t work hard to be anyone but herself.

  • Reply Bryce September 22, 2015 at 7:57 am

I’ve got two stelliums if we’re counting the NN.
1st House: Venus at 20 Scorp exact conjunct Uranus at 20 Scorp, alongside Mercury at 27. This of course is all also conjunct my rising at 17 Scorp.

Taking a crack at these characters–Venus in Scorpio. She’s intense. Seductive. Plays a long game. Leaves a wake. I think of her more as a courtesan. She likes to wear leather + lace + has long eyelashes. And she is, of course, best friends with Uranus in Scorpio–a lanky dude with a man bun (blond) and sacred geometry tattoos. Uranus constantly pushes Venus to never be owned, and to feel her freedom. And then there is Mercury, who has very particular opinions on what kinds of pens are best (Uni Ball Deluxe Micro Point), and who is constantly taking notes and observing people and reporting back to Venus + Uranus, who then make decisions on who should respond and how. If they lived in an actual house it would be minimal–black/white/bronzes with simple plants and a salt water pool in the back (because, water).

Having those three in my 1st house of identity is something. I think it is sometimes hard to get a read on me, and/or I continually surprise people as they get to know me.

AND. The fact that this augments the energy of the natural ruler of the 1st house (Aries) makes so much sense to me again about the compelling attraction I have to Aries. HA. Also makes sense that this would amplify my Mars (in Leo) over in my 9th–I have wanderlust like whoa, and always have.

Then over in my 10th house, we’ve got Jupiter at 5 Virgo, Saturn at 22 Virgo and my NN at 6 Virgo.

This feels to me like my very charming, very social and super optimistic Jupiter–I think of him like my surfer-partier best friend (in real life) is hanging out with my MBA/PhD friend (Saturn) who reads Marcus Aurelius before bed, and they have lots of lively conversations, although Saturn thinks Jupiter should get a little more serious–his favorite saying is plan your work, work your plan–while Jupiter thinks Saturn should lighten up a little more–his favorite saying is having fun can be hard work! All of this is in conjunction with my NN who is sort of always like, FOCUS, work together. A middle child, if you will. And of course, they are all working towards my career success.

And this would mean that Saturn in my chart is amplified, since this is the 10th house. My moon in Capricorn likes this 🙂

Yes, it resonates with me. Saturn is amplified in the 10th but so is any planet. Top of the chart! It’s called “accidentally dignified” for Jupiter. Saturn, of course, is home.

So this is a Jupiter return year!

    Thoughts on first male chart:

    – Home is focus for endeavors and at the heart of this person, even tho it suggests there has been major lessons and upsets in this house area of family of origin or roots or the father (Pluto)…nonetheless the mutable Gemini propensity to analyse, move on and stay upbeat is probably helpful here combined with Mars which means they take no crap and are perhaps a warrior like advocate for home life, values or support networks for others..5th house focus in cancer shows focus on nurturing, compassionate nature, domesticity type ventures too

Thinking a childrens performer, guru/teacher, talk show host or chef? Road Dahl or Jamie Oliver?

2nd chart not so sure…obv guess is actor/signer with 1st house sun + merc, their self expression is vital to well being and ID, coupled with saturn and uranus in 2nd….wildly innovative paired with grounding saturn seems balanced. i.e. mega star, their wild ideas pay off as seem to have some insight or forethought into viability before they launch, they spot a niche or need and go for it. Sensuality, earthy beauty from Taurus here too

    I have 2 stelliums:

3 planets – Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune – in 10th house + MC in fire, mutable Sag
(Capricorn / Saturn natural 10H ruler)

3 planets – Sun, Mercury, Pluto – in 8th house in cardinal air Libra (Scorpio/Mars + Pluto natural 8H rulers)

+ saturn conjunct pluto just outside in 9H Scorpio at 5 degrees (9H starts at 3 degrees Scorp)

    My 10H stellium:
    – Jupiter: eager adventurer, fun loving bold ‘look at me’ mover and shaker – wants to collaborate and work with interesting people and projects that inspire, and also lead. I don’t know why but the ‘let’s get ready to partaaay’ Kristen Wiig from bridesmaids scene comes to mind here…
    – Neptune: Glamorous auteur and lover of the arts, beauty, film, style. Also supremely sensitive to human suffering and also visual suffering (i.e. if things aren’t nicely decorated…weird comparison i know…on the flip side beautiful art or a landscape can move this idealist romantic at heart to tears)
    – Uranus: bold, cause driven, FREEDOM seeking visionary – a rebel for a cause – contributing to humanity in some way

With the costume of Sagittarius (mutable fire)…I guess knowledge, truth, travel and adventure are how they express their energies in the 10th house of Career, public profile, fame etc. Jupiter in Sag is even more joyous and wants to uplift, share knowledge; Neptune wants to create and share beauty inspired by travels or adventures perhaps and Uranus wants to come up with some groundbreaking idea or concept to shake up society in a major way (peace in the middle east, climate change or even identifying trends).

Uranus conjunct MC + Jupiter I guess blends energy to this desire well. Neptune a little way over in 10th, however I do feel a deep affiliation with its idealistic longings and love for beauty/ arts as ruler of my ASC….perhaps thats the conflict there I need to resolve and focus on, have felt the need to shake things up for a while and be inspired int hat area of my life.

    On my 8H stellium –
    – Sun – essential self and life force
    – Mercury – Communicator
    – Pluto – Deep, intense, underworld type, there to hold up mirror to pysch lessons and demons

In Libra / cardinal air, this lends a balanced reason and drive to understand the lessons of the past….whats at the core of things, both with self and with others. Maybe this explains overanalysis and anxiety with the air sign tho…talking things through, finding it difficult to let things go until they are perfect or everyone seems happy. need to probably action and integrate more fire here to release these energies. If Mars and Pluto activated, this probably explains intense inner conflict as well as with trying to understand my past / heritage…maybe this relates to me knowing myself before I can express or put energy into my other 10H stellium

Sun + Pluto are conjunct, Pluto also conjunct Saturn in 9th.

So are Saturn, Mars and Pluto important ruling energies in my chart to balance, prioritize? Is Neptune still considered my chart ruler with my Pisces ASC? My chart tone from earlier hack is Gemini as well (mutable air dominant) so Mercury must figure strongly as well…NN in Gemini too perhaps I’m getting too far ahead…just wondering the best focus at this point 🙂

thanks flashfire! haha yes quite mad indeed, once i get a handle on it i hope i can do this justice…right now it feels like a few egos to manage, jupiter just wants to be footloose and fancy free partying in some exotic city, whilst neptune and uranus go back and forth btw glamorous idealism and wanting to do something with a meaning/purpose. guess with uranus on MC that is more of a focus and maybe i need to channel that with neptune/jupiter needs too. anyhoo your stellium sounds pretty cool too in the 5th?! thats a fun house to have lots of characters/energy 🙂

Question regarding stelliums and natural house rulers… is the natural ruler just general or does it cast back to the natural ruler where ever it is in your chart? For example. I have a fifth house stellium. The natural ruler of the fifth house is Leo. So Do I look to my sun to be more amplified wherever it is in my chart because the Sun is Leo’s planet? Or do I look to my third house which is where Leo is in my chart (occupied by a heavily aspected Jupiter)? Or does it just lend my chart a more Leoine flair and flavour?

Gonna take a wild stab in the dark with the mystery charts: The first one, I have no clue. I’m thinking a home body type, super sensitive, extremely creative with all those Cancer placements and Pisces ascendant, maybe a painter? Or poet. Monet, perhaps? Someone famous for water paintings/scenes… Turner perhaps? Hmmm… but Saturn in 10th Aquarius makes me think someone more eccentric/rebellious …. Klimt? Van Gogh?

The second mystery chart… Second House Taurus placements make me guess someone affiliated with finance and or/politics, Gemini Jupiter and Mars in the third house make me think publishing with the Leo moon giving added performance angle. Could it be Arianna Huffington or someone like that? Martha Stewart maybe?

All my houses are intercepted (really hope we get to that soon as might make my understanding clearer) so I have Uranus Pluto ( conjunct each other and part fortune) in Virgo , with Mars in Libra. There are a couple of asteroids and stuff in there as well,, but I’m just counting planets for now!

Funny , Jamie Oliver occurred to me for the first one too . R. Dahl didn’t , but that’s brill! Love him! Edward Gorey might be a possibility too

Oh, and there is a little sliver of Scorpio there in my fifth as well with vesta marking the spot at zero degrees Scorpio. We’re probably not supposed to include vesta at this point But I dig Vesta and I love the glyph for it!

          • Flashfire September 22, 2015 at 4:54 pm

Argh. You should ignore me on the intercepted house front because after researching intercepted houses a bit, I am not certain what that really means or if I am using the term properly . All I know is that in my chart , most of the houses contain more than one sign . Some contain three signs I think I have an extravagantly wonky chart …. But honestly don’t know enough to say whether that is true or not. So shutting up now.

      • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:42 pm

Not Martha S but they are only a year apart and both with a strong Leo emphasis. Performance, yes!

Flashfire, your take on chart #1 gave me goosebumps!

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:58 pm

You asked: Question regarding stelliums and natural house rulers… is the natural ruler just general or does it cast back to the natural ruler where ever it is in your chart?

It amps up Leo in general first so even though your stellium is in a sign other than Leo, it pulls LEO energy in, big time. Think of it as a stellium in Leo as well.

So yes to all three. Think of how that adds to, or offers outlet to your stellium drives and desires.

And where might you express that? Look to the house ruled by Leo or containing the whole sign of Leo if he’s intercepted.

Because the Sun is the natural channel of Leo energy, look to where the sun wants to express as well.

  • Reply Somnambulista September 22, 2015 at 8:10 am

I have Mars, Venus, and Saturn, in my 5th house in Gemini.
Not sure if Chiron counts, but I also have my Sun, Mercury, and Chiron in my third house, bridging Aries and Taurus ( my Sun).
It’s time for my mammogram, so I’ll post thoughts later.

    • Reply Somnambulista September 23, 2015 at 6:24 pm

So, my 1st stellium is in my 5th house, in Gemini, but the 5th house’s natural ruler is Leo.
I’ve got Venus, Mars and Saturn there.
I have a lot of issues with my practicality and anxiety dampening my creativity, which desperately wants to be expressed , and stifling my general joie de vivre.
My gut feeling when I examined this stellium was that this was what it was all about.
I was a serious child, but highly creative. I made pop-up books, painted, sewed, wrote fiction, loved music…but I was given a lot of responsibility at a young age and gradually accepted that my energy was better spent on practicalities than creative flights of fancy.
This came to a head when I chose to go to college for costume and set design, but had to abandon the idea of actually doing that for a living in order to take care of my mother. I chose television administration, to stay in a somewhat creative field, but allow the stability of office work and a steady paycheck.
People who knew me then are shocked at what I do now and it’s that cognitive dissonance that permeates my psyche.
Am I on track at all with this?

  • Reply Antonia September 22, 2015 at 8:23 am

    Two Stellium

10th house, natural ruler Capricorn, signs are Pluto, Saturn, Venus

Then another in Leo – Mercury, Sun, Pluto again

What’s happening here with me as I learn these things is that I have yet to have a shorthand vocabulary for the signs, planets, houses and aspects..

Pluto what sort of actor would that be?
Kimmy when you said Uranus – autonomy and freedom, Is that what I should think? Do I think actor Uranus is free spirit? Mars actor is physical?

Dictionary time. I think yours and Mystic’s would be the best. Anyway, loved your crib sheet of using the stage model because finally I have a portal to work with as I find short hand words. Most sites have just too many words or ones that just don’t mean much. I had no idea Jupiter related to carefree, creative adventure.

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:48 pm

Athena, in your journal, start a page for each planet, each sign and each house, then start collecting key words, images, mythic figures, colors, metals . . .anything that resonates. Key words for Pluto might include powerful, focused, contained, edge, deep, charismatic, binding, transforming . . .

Uranus is about breaking out of preconceived social constructs. He tips the apple cart, pulls the rug out – the trickster, the awakener, the rebel.

Mars does like to push, so he can get a push back. Battle!

Your journal is going to be a treasure trove of understanding!

6 planets in the 12th H!! yikes, right?!

    – Sun in Virgo
    – Saturn conjunct Jupiter conjunct Mercury in Libra
    – Pluto in Libra
    – Venus in Scorpio (conjunct Pluto just), Ve right on cusp of 1st house

This is not even counting Vesta or Ceres in 12H

Moon in Aries in 6th directly opposite this intense focus

Keen to understand the dynamics at play behind her suffering / current addiction if anyone has any thoughts…i read somewhere that this house can be a major asset and force for good if harnessed…planets here have the potential to pull people into your orb or create major influence, for good or bad.

Wow … Is she extremely other worldly? 12 th house… I always think about how thin the veil is there.

      • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 5:53 pm

I agree. The veil is thin. It can be easy to slip into the realm of infinite possibilities and lose the footing in the “real” world.

Liz Greene says it well – these connections to Neptune or Pisces or the 12th – they have such a beautiful and rarefied vision of life that it can’t last in our sometimes harsh reality.

This is why they call the 12th “serve or suffer”. Service, speaking for those without a voice be they people, animals, oceans, forests . . . is a way to thrive in an otherwise subsuming world.

When the veil is thin, utilize the gift.

        • Reply astraeagold September 23, 2015 at 2:25 am

Have 4 planets and the south node in the 12th – Venus in Leo, sun and Saturn in Virgo, mercury in Libra. Service is freedom. And yes, often the veils are thin. Had not thought of this as a stellium before, big orbs. But it’s a busy house, my 12 th. Will think more about whether I can say anything useful, summarise my experience of living in/ with the 12 th Sofoc123.

Thanks Kimmy and all for the insights, v interesting on the thin veil…seems like most things can be turned into gifts I am learning through these hacks which is a bice idea!

Yes astreagold my sister has same sun in virgo and mercury libra in 12th like u would be interested to hear your thoughts. Freedom i think is key for her…so the service route sounds perfect for her, she is super compassionate. without going too faR into it this aspect of her is maybe part of why she got down the wrong road trying to help someone else, she has that addictive personality type, all or nothing. I know Pisces is ruled by Neptune but does anyone else think Virgo displays Neptuninian type vibes sometimes….or is that the shadow of opposite sign Pisces coming into it?

only problem would be trying to tell her she has this gift or can utilize this area (she has her Uranus in first house Scorpio asc + Aries Moon in 6th…so a little headstrong lol :))

her part of fortune is in 7th too (Toro), Chiron here too. So 1 on 1 relationships are where she would find abundance, joy….altho this is where she is also wounded with chiron. hmm, does anyone else have the Chiron / POF combo in same house…how does that play out?

          • astraeagold September 24, 2015 at 2:53 pm

socfoc re your sister… don’t think my family of origin had much of an idea who I was, tho they thought they did. Big revelation my first astrological consult when someone who i had never seen before told me how I saw myself. Didn’t hurt that it was Liz Greene, before she was very famous. good intro to astrology. 12th house matters – my inner life took a while to get a handle on, so for me therapy, any psychological growth stuff, spiritual practices have been very important in my life. Saturn in 12th. Depression also an issue for many years – a particularly bad time of each year coincided with the sun going through my 12th – so from mid Aug till late Sept/early Oct. Work has been a lifesaver, as in vocation, not climbing a career ladder. 6th house Jupiter the handle on my bucket chart. Another lightbulb time of my life was discovering and exposing a family secret which explained so much about our dysfunction inc fam pattern of mental illness, then living a life to be conscious example to the next generation that we, of this familial line, do not have to be stuck in that, we have choices. Addiction, yes, I can get lost in the 12th, there are times I get messages/know things from the soles of my feet – I don’t know where they are from. These days I try and not get too woo woo about that. I can get lost in the 12th, I think that might be the Neptune, Pisces addiction – but as a Virgo I like to make my addictions useful. So eg I am a good researcher. My vocation is an ancient healing tradition, so I can get lost in that, usefully 🙂 . Liz G (another Virgo) said to me decades ago – Virgo is as big or as small as the work they do.
Chiron POF in 7th – is relationship counselling a possibility? Maybe not early in life.

I have 4 planets occupying my 5th House:

    Sun in late Libra
Mercury, Pluto, Venus conjunct in Scorpio (trine MC & ASC)
Vertex is in there too for good measure

So the hack email image of the three Batman kids and the Spiderman kid is pretty much what my 5th House looks like haha. 🙂 My stellium is smack in the middle of the Via Combusta, and however antiquated that concept may be I embrace it.

I’ve always found myself sensitive to Pluto transits, and almost feel like he’s a second chart ruler for me besides Moon (Kataka Asc).

I absolutely do my 5th House in terms of fertility of mind and creative works (writing, arts, expression), creating worlds and characters, stories and soundscapes…not as much in terms of physical children, family, parties, dating, or any of that. I realized a lot about my stellium and how it fits into my life when we did the Houses hack (#2) and I had a chance to envision them living/acting together. Pluto/Hades as underworld ruler, Mercury as Hermes Trismegistus, Venus as Netzach (Victory) in Hermetic Qabalah. Cerberus guards the door. The Sun literally shining light on the Scorpionic creations and bringing them to the open, to fruition, to tangible manifestation.

I love my stellium, but the only thing that sometimes gets me in trouble is that Scorpio Mercury…I need to hold my tongue because my mind conjures perceptions and retorts at lightning speed, and it’s not always wise to say what we really think.

Following on flashfire’s comment/question…the natural ruler of the 5H is Leo/Sun, so should I consider the Sun in my stellium as amped, or my Leonine 2nd House amped (POF there, and Lilith square stellium)—or both?

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 6:00 pm

I love this delineation. Thank you!

And yes, think of Leo energy as PART of your stellium, then look at where Leo is in your chart (what house cusp?) and see in what ways the sun is able to channel the desires and talents of the 5th house Stellium.

      • Reply Nia September 22, 2015 at 6:15 pm

Thanks Kimmy! As the Sun is some distance from the conjunction trio of my 5H I know I need to work more on integrating and understanding it within their action…which means becoming happy with putting myself “out” there more—scary for an introvert Crab Rising! 🙂 I need to feel out how Sun as the natural House ruler AND part of the stellium plays out in how I’m understanding the four energies together…

Leo has part of both the 2H (POF amping $$ and happiness from creative works?) and 3H (where my Virgo Moon is also—epic Scribe Vibe!). Money/Values Sector + Communication/Media Sector seem like great companions for an author’s 5H creative stellium.

I have a stellium in aries.
    Sun moon Venus plus chiron
lately I’m thinking that by not doing justice to those planets I ended up with the head injuries aries are warned about. They straddle 7th/8th house. It’s been educational to say the very least. I don’t know if that’s even a word.
I don’t do well with casual and am mostly a hermit at this point. People find me polarizing. Pluto opposing the stellium makes the script complicated. There’s definitely no wiggle room for my path. I just wish I’d figured it out a little earlier.

My friend has 7 planets and his ascendant in libra. He’s had a rouuugggghhhh go this last few years and his nodes are cap/cancer like me. I am never shocked by his stories. Might nominate his wife for sainthood.

The second chart I see that 5th house square and think, problematically sexy.

Problematically sexy . . . that’s so interesting, and you’ll see why when I post the identities.

I think whenever we repress our Aries nature, (let alone stellium!) the part of the body ruled by Aries suffers. ie, headaches or head injuries, go to your Aries house and start being the boss!

      Great point.

Nono, it’s good to see you back.

I don’t have much Aries (SN) and I wasn’t aware of the head injury part of it. Super interesting, my in-laws are always getting head injuries, the whole lot of them. Heavy on the Aries.

Good tip to honor the Aries in your chart.

Good to be back. Everybody eclipsing their screen names though so I’m super confused, luckily your avatar is still the cool night walk in the woods. I’m but ready for our salon to go live,or a piab chat room.

Uranus in aries has been insane in the membrane for real. I’m just a hot mess. It’s zap zone full time here still but I have Internet access and a complicated phone. Still looking for a Web mistress to run this joint. My sun moon Venus stellium hasn’t charmed anyone yet,but sooon.

          • Fauness September 25, 2015 at 2:22 pm

It charms us all here, dear. I agree on the PIAB, I don’t know what I’d do without the hack page.

Would you mind taking a peek at my stellium comments and letting me know what you think? I’m not sure if my insights are incoherent babbling or justifiable. I kept thinking of stuff this time and I guess I like sharing here & typing more than long handing every thought.

I totally will when this migraine clears (maybe mid June ; p )

I keeed. But I’m tranquilized right now so I’ll print tomorrow and brain with you.

Nono, I so want to hear your experience with Uranus in Aries. Please do share whenever and wherever you can. 🙂

          • ellen September 25, 2015 at 9:02 pm

I ronically, see above. I so wish I COULD share all this with you.

I would actually do anything to do just that with people.

If I survive the extended zap zone I hope I will!

          • ellen September 25, 2015 at 9:04 pm

            Spoiler alert it’s exciting

          • ICPluto September 26, 2015 at 4:35 am

Yes, it sounds like something I´ve seen about Jane Austen and Shakespeare´s spoilers: “everybody gets married in the end.” or “everybody dies in the end”. 🙂 I´d rather do without this zap-zone “afterglow” .

Hello… massive migraine sufferer here, so I’m listening up. I have Aries rising. When you say go to your Aries house do you mean the 1st house or the house which is mostly Aries? A bit of my 1st house is in Aries but mostly my 12th house is Aries (with a smidge of Pisces). I am beside myself with headaches at the moment and need all the advice I can get!!

        • Reply Kimmy September 26, 2015 at 1:16 am

So sorry about the headaches. I know how painful that can be. Hope you are finding some easy and peace . . . sleep?

It can be complex, but to start with, go to the house with Aries on the cups. Your rising sign as Aries is the first check in so when it comes to your “shop window” what you let others see of you, how you initiate new things, they way you say “this is who I am!” . . . that is a pathway for Aries expression. You NEED to be Aries there.

You need to be the boss. So when you launch something, anything from deciding which restaurant to meet friends at to starting a project to self-promo, entrepreneurship, making the first move, picking up the phone and saying “hello”, that’s where you let your Aries PUSH live out. The warrior is your ally.

Is he getting a look in?

Are you having to put up with or “tolerate” things or ppl don’t want to?

Can you see where other aspects in your chart might have different intentions or ways of relating?

When you feel up to it, start exploring, and look also at your Aries ruler Mars. Where is he? What sign? Does he call the shots in that area of life?

Thanks Kimmy, this is really helpful.

    For my first Stellium:
    Actors: Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto.
    Costume: Libra.
Stage: 1st House – Self Identity.
Script: Jupiter 6 degrees, Saturn 7 degrees (conjunct), Pluto 23 degrees

Jupiter and Saturn are very close, maybe close friends? Maybe lovers? They hang out in a similar area of the house. Steady expansion and contraction between the two, I think with Jupiter expanding Saturn’s organizational, structural qualities. Supporting him in that effort.

Pluto on the other side of the house, alone (planet wise), maybe some music going to drown out the commotion between Jupiter and Saturn. I think he loves his space and enjoys that Jupiter and Saturn have each other. I know we are just talking planets but I’d like to throw in that Lilith is also here, conjunct Pluto at 26 degrees. So, I wonder what kind of effects she has on him and what sort of interesting things go on between the two of them.

They are all wearing the costume of Libra so, I imagine the house is very beautiful, tasteful and representative of each of the “actor’s” identities. I wonder if there is some tension, with each being seen so openly for who they are, or if they all carry on somewhat aloof, as though it doesn’t even matter. This stage is very airy, mental, and cardinal – just like the modality of the house itself.

Next door we have a completely different Stellium.

    Actors: Mercury, Venus, Uranus.
    Costume: Scorpio.
Stage: 2nd House – Values and Possessions
Script: Mercury 21 degrees, Uranus 26 degrees (conjunct), Venus 7 degrees.

In this house we have Venus by herself on the lower degree – possibly the front of the house in a big giant room where she can lounge/play/entertain herself, and Mercury and Uranus together on the higher degree – I picture them in the back of the house in some kind of work studio they built to work together in… I picture Venus having unusual tastes and desires – being in Scorpio, while Mercury and Uranus work together to satisfy her tastes. I don’t think Venus requires a lot per say but what she does require is certainly of great value and quality. I’m thinking deep and complex thought, communication, latest most modern technology, innovation, imagination, with those qualities I believe they are able to keep Venus in this position is pretty happy. I imagine the fruits of Mercury conj Uranus efforts will be nothing short of extraordinary for the three of them.

This stage is very watery, emotional, deep but FIXED (same as the house ruler) – I feel torn between this house in that it can be very deep and philosophical but there’s also a fine line between that exploration of the deep and deep-depths of despair type deep. If things aren’t going well on the communication and innovative front, and Venus cant enjoy her space the way she wants to – all hell breaks loose. T_T

I may or may not have a 3rd Stellium depending on what we are “including”. But I’ll throw it out there anyway: Sun, Neptune, IC, POF wearing Sagittarius, sitting in the 3rd House of Communication. Sun 8 degrees, Neptune 21 degrees conjunct POF 19 degrees, IC 29 degrees.

    Hey Y’all
I have a stellium of Mercury, Uranus, Neptune (7th house) Saturn and North Node (8th house) in Capricorn. But in whole sign chart they all fall in my 7th house. House ruler is Libra and DSC. ruler is Sagittarius. So I’ve got some pretty serious issues with putting too much energy in relationships and partnerships. Also Mercury is the apex of the yod with Mars in gemini in the 12th and the moon in leo in the 3rd. Mercury is also the ruler of my chart, so my stellium is a huge deal. If i don’t have a relationship or a lover for too long (1 month lol) i start missing energy, like even if I work on myself, do therapy, workout, eat healthy, spend time with friends, i still end up being cranky if i haven’t been kissed in a while (leo moon doesnt help) but i see how the 7th & 8th house have huge focus in my life, and everything in my chart just confirms it even more. I know Mercury in 7th wants communication in partnership, in capricorn, means pretty serious business but it doesn’t mesh well with unpredictable uranus and dreamy neptune full of dilusions. I know these placements can indicate that I never marry, with Sagittarius Sun and Venus it indicates it even more. I get bored easily of people, i have a fast thinking mind (uranus) but i project my ideals onto people (neptune). I Love my stellium and I don’t. With Libra being the ruler it makes me more charming than a capricorn stellium would suggest. Saturn and North Node for me indicates that this is where i am to work, and it’s normal for me to feel stuck and just an indicator of hard work in the areas of close relationships.

I also have a weird conjunct Chiron and South Node in Cancer conjunct Moon in Leo. I think it’s how I understand others pain, and get people to talk to me and confide, but i respond to them in a Leo manner, of uplifting them, trying to give them back their power with my words (Moon in 3rd house). When I talk with people, I always go straight to the facts, in a few minutes the person could be telling me about their mom, their ex girlfriend boyfriend, their major problem in life, and I always tell them straight facts about the way they are mostly always hurting themselves or inhibiting themselves.
but with south node conjunct the moon, its hard for me not to give in to the tyranny that leo moon kinda wants… not with many people, but the ones closest. I always feel everything is owed to me.. Oh and this triple conjunction is opposite Saturn which is part of my stellium.

” . . . pretty serious issues with putting too much energy in relationships and partnerships.”

      Thank you!

This is an important point and I may not have focused on it enough.

When you have a stellium in a particular house(s) you go there. That is where you are meant to focus! There is no “too much” (like Mae West said, “too much of a good thing can be wonderful.”

But you are right as well. No one relationship wants THAT kind of attention. So, you diversify. You make a career out of relating or collaborating, or partnership.

I always suggest to ppl with a packed 7th, for example, to think about crisis counseling, or life coaching, or multiple biz partnerships or artistic collaborations because that will FREE UP the personal relationships to find more ease and flow.

You give all that intensity a few extra channels of expression so the marriage or 7th house intimate relationship doesn’t have to withstand all the weight.

For the first (male) chart, I think the subject may be a very creative person (5th house) whose work expresses his strong connection to the land of his birth (Cancer—also the stellium goes across the 4th and 5th houses.) He may be a historian, for instance.

Pluto indicates that his work may involve a lot of digging/research. Neptune may indicate a creative/imaginative tone to his work, so that, for instance, even if he is a scholarly historian, his work would be accessible to the general public.

Since his node is in Virgo in the 7th house, I think that supports the writer theory, but he might be someone who works with a writing partner—someone like Will Durant, for instance. (Will Durant is a Scorpio, so this is not his chart.)

  • Reply Sagitta September 22, 2015 at 11:07 pm

For the second chart, I am going to take a risk and go beyond the performer/singer option (which is definitely a strong possibility.) Maybe the person is someone who speaks (uses the Taurean voice) and advocates (Uranus) on behalf of earth-related issues (Saturn in Taurus.) The node in Virgo in the 6th house leads me to see this person in a service-oriented role rather than a performer-role.

I have a stellium in my 11th house and in my 1st house.

Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn in my 11th
The Moon, Uranus, and Neptune in my 1st in Sagittarius

My first house makes sense to me because my identity has always been a sensitive, free spirited, free thinker person. I am a life long learner and I love being independent!

I have stelliums in my 4th and 5th houses. I reflected on these a little bit when we did the houses hack, and since this is such an important feature in my chart I’m pretty much always reflecting on them.

The first stellium is all Virgo: Moon (19), Mars (20), Venus (24) all together next to the IC. Yes, this is intense energy; lots of Virgo. And the ruler of the 4th house (Cancer) is amplified. I actually have Cancer rising, so this is sort of mirrored in my 1st house. I think of it as a close link between home/family and my identity. The moon is my chart ruler and even though every planet in the stellium needs full expression, I think everything for me comes down to the moon being happy. My stellium here makes me think about nutrition and being nourished, which has been a hard lesson for me to learn so far — how to truly nourish myself and stay in balance with food. And beyond food, how to do all of the Virgo rituals that nourish me spiritually. 4th house is family and motherhood – I’m not a mother yet but I believe that I probably will have children. I’m interested in my ancestors and want to explore my roots further.

My other stellium is in the 5th house, with the sun at 19 Libra and everything else in Scorpio: Mercury (2), Pluto (4), and Saturn (25). I write fiction, and now TV and screenplays. My creative life is very important to me. A 5th house stellium amplifies Leo, which is the sign of my 2nd and 3rd houses — talents/resources and writing. I was always a shy person and have been consciously working on confidence, on self-actualizing through my 5th house sun. Pluto is quite at home in Scorpio, and Mercury is watery and perceptive. Those two trine my ascendant, so the energy feels natural. Saturn in the 5th, though, has an interesting definition of “fun.” I just finished my Saturn return and I’m so tired. I feel like I just pushed a boulder up a mountain in the fog, and when the clouds lifted they revealed my reward: a brand new mountain to climb. But yay, at least Saturn is in Sag now and I can climb my new mountain without pushing the boulder! 🙂

I should keep an aspects journal, although the energy is so clearly collected in this 4th and 5th house bundle that I feel like every transit affects everything. Jupiter will conjunct my moon-mars-venus this year, so I’m interested to see what happens then.

  • Reply Geeta September 22, 2015 at 7:01 pm

I have a stellium in 10th house Virgo: Mars is conjunct the MC at 4 degrees; Pluto and Uranus are conjunct the MC at 9-10 degrees and Uranus is widely conjunct Mars.

I know what this triple-threat is about on a fundamental level: workaholism.

In addition, with Pluto being about recycling and Uranus about change, one might expect that I would keep changing jobs. Fortunately, no– I have been employed at the same college for a long time. However, I keep changing the themes/textbooks/assignments in my class.

Another thing is the way Uranus is about Science and Pluto about hidden resources. I have often taught my classes online. Uranian technology allows me to use cyberspace– the invisible resource, so to speak.

    following in Mermade’s footsteps:

    For my first Stellium:
    Actors: Jupiter, Venus, Neptune.
    Costume: Scorpio.
Stage: 1st House – Self Identity.
Script: Jupiter 4 degrees(conjunct), Venus 6 degrees, Neptune 83 degrees

Lady Luck or Jovial Pan feasting on grapes and wine is best buddies with the sensitive artiste Neptune daydreaming possibly high on hash.
Venus the sultry seductive vamp luring both into her den of decadence.

    For my second Stellium:
    Actors: Mercury, Sun, Pluto.
    Costume: Virgo.
    Stage: 11th House – Community
Script: Mercury 17 degrees (conjunct), Sun 21 degrees (conjunct), Pluto 27 degrees.

Chatty messenger Mercury, energetic sun, dark brooding Pluto make for interesting social interactions. Mercury and Pluto bond over deep topics.

    • Reply scorpio_rising September 22, 2015 at 7:08 pm

As for the charts the first a sensitive introverted artist type who is possibly a painter or writer with lots of kids or likes to stay home? Emily Dickson? ok, must be male instead…
The second a performer? Leo/Aries a singer or an actress?
Strong self identity and creativity issues.

Are we just using the ten lights/planets or adding POF, nodes etc into the mix? And if any are retro, does that impact the script?

I have Mars, Uranus and Neptune all conj and retro in Virgo in the 5th AND Mercury (retro) conj Sun in the 12th w Venus in the 1st all in Aries

    • Reply Kimmy September 22, 2015 at 10:45 pm

The retro question is good, but needs a hack of its own. There are a lot of conflicting ideas about retrograde planets and what they symbolize in the natal chart. What it can tell you is whether two planets are moving towards each other, away from each other or with each other. For now, focus on what house and signs the stellium awakens.

I don’t count angles (house cusps, MC, Asc) POF, Nodes but if they are among the 3 – 4 planets, I take note. But if it’s two planets and the node, then I don’t call it a stellium.

  • Reply Rosa September 22, 2015 at 8:02 pm

    Okie dokie.

    Stellium number 1
    Actors: Sun, MC, Venus, Mercury
    Costume: Sagittarius.
Stage: 9th house – (New horizons, travel, beliefs, education) apart from Mercury who is in 10th house (Career, mission, profession, public relations)
Script: Sun 01 degrees (conjunct), Venus 04 degrees (conjunct), MC 08 degrees (conjunct), Mercury 16 degrees.

So what I get from this is that there is an intense focus on exploration x2 as we’re going both 9th house AND Sagittarius especially with Sun and Venus – a lot of how I manifest my identity revolves around my passion for learning, academia and being a hippie with wanderlust. I have a great capacity for experimentation and exploration and I really feed this focus well as I welcome the unexpected because I always believe I’m going to learn something else! (I think I’m on the right track…)

    2nd Stellium:
    Actors: Saturn, Neptune and Moon
    Costume: Capricorn
Stage: 11th house (Friends, goals for the future, groups)
Script: Neptune 12 Degrees (conjunct), Saturn 21 degrees (conjunct), Moon 24 degrees.

Gosh.. I think it can get pretty gloomy around here if I’m going from the vibe I get… Tendencies to get emotional and delusional in regards to friends and have limitations and problems there? Any thoughts?

  • Reply krs3 September 22, 2015 at 8:54 pm

For the female chart I think the ego wounds her — like she can be a clueless blunt force instrument of ego.

I think she captivated men, but not for beauty. More though sheer force of will. This chart just screams ego ego ego — is she famous for her ego?

I’m thinking singer — Venus w the SN in the 12th would be a good voice.

Horrible childhood — ashamed of it. Ego a result of that. Major social climber. But: bad at it. Leaves traces of it. Not an elegant person. Wild talent but inelegant.

Aries rising with sun/Merc in the 1st — “enough about me, what do you think about me?”

a natural chart with most of the planets in houses and signs 1-5 does not make me think this person cares about others.

Would have been hard getting to that Virgo NN in the 6th! Unless she became a hermit.

  • Reply Fauness September 22, 2015 at 8:56 pm

I *finally* have a definition of what a stellium is. I thought I had none, but I think I have 2. Wide orb between Mars & Venus and Sun & Saturn, but the share the same sign and/or house.

    8H Gemini – 6 Mars, 22 Venus, 25 Jupier (also 10 Lilith)

    9H/10H Leo – 3 Sun, 18 Saturn, 27 Mercury (also 12 Leo MC)

So, Pluto and Saturn are amplified. Death, transformation, taxes, and career all done in a regal intellectual way. Or maybe a flashy, bored way. Ah, the choices, and each one is right.

    • Reply Fauness September 23, 2015 at 4:53 am

So the second stellium, would that be ruled by Jupiter since it starts in the 9th? Or Saturn because more of the planets are there? I’m guessing both.

I need to sit longer with this. I think eighth house is always mysterious, even though I have worked on bringing it out and understanding it. And one cannot walk around all Saturnine and dour, especially as a Leo. I definitely can, unfortunately, but I internalize a lot and am not always sure how to express. Like the comments above about 12H thin veil – I have a strong Neptune and NN 12H. I think I have some difficult energies to work with – and don’t we all. Pluto & Saturn running the stellium show just sounds so drastic.

    • Reply Fauness September 23, 2015 at 7:42 pm

I’m finding this a little hard to wrap my head around. Especially since I never knew I had a stellium and haven’t given it any thought, unlike other aspects of astrology.

In the eighth, I see Venus buddying up with Jupiter on one side, and Mars buddying up with Lilith on the other. Interesting considering gemini is the sign of the twins. I have to have intense relationships that are transformative and I get bored if there isn’t interesting thoughts and ideas passed around. I’ve experienced push and pull, like my venus will get all blown out of proportion but then my mars & lilith will bring skepticism and feministic self-reliance. I see this in the way I dress, partially feminine and partially fuq-it. Like the other day I wore this hot sporty dress but let my hair air-dry and my nails are unpainted. Eye make-up but minimal jewelry. Or maybe that’s just my uranus rising having to be different.

I find the leo stellium curious. I’ve always been more of an introverted leo and I always kind of brushed past my leo stuff and focused on the others. Probably because of years of people either being surprised I was a leo or saying I was a kitty-cat leo. But really, I have this stellium in leo right over my MC. That includes my sun on one side and mercury other other. Hmmm. I’m an elementary school teacher in a public school, so I do have to get along with many different types of people, be organized, not mind extra work, and deal with the clusterfuq that is the American school system. Not always easy. Saturn is rules and structure so i see that, but where’s my fun 9th house leo sun in all this? I do love learning and I get for real excited when I teach (the non monotonous stuff anyway) but I think I’m missing something in the equation. I was the team leader in my grade level but I decided to give that up while I have all these transits going on in my 10th. It just feels right though, I imagine the reason or lesson will come out later.

I was thinking about your Leo stellium and your question about where all the 9th house fun is for your Leo Sun. You have to consider, like Kimmy said before, that you “enter your 9th house in Moon mode and plunge into the Leo/Sun energy once there. The Moon is your way in.” Thought it would be useful to think about that too.

          • Fauness September 25, 2015 at 3:39 pm

Thanks, IC! I spent so long thinking about my 9th house as Leo since my sun is there. But the cusp IS cancer, as is most of the house. Obviously, when I was interpreting on my own, I made some mistakes.

Thanks, ICP! Thanks for responding. xo

          • ICPluto September 25, 2015 at 5:48 pm

Interesting also to use the ephemeris to track the most recent and important transits to see how your stelliums behaved. If we look at these transits as a plot developing, perhaps it would be easier to identify how the energies play as a troupe 🙂 After all, you´re still going to have Saturn contacting both of your stelliums.

          • Fauness September 26, 2015 at 7:57 am

My moon is in sag, so that helps. I had many a transit on my stellium this summer, notably Venus in Leo retro. That was awesome and hard too. Changes of perspective and creativity.

          • ICPluto September 26, 2015 at 8:16 am

electro, in a way, I think it was a smart move to let go of that leadership position. You´re going to have Saturn opposite your Mars soon (on top of the Neptune/Moon conjunction). It´s very wise to know when to conserve and when to spend energy. xx

i’m a bit overwhelmed about succinctly combining all the information together, from the planets/houses/signs etc. even with how you wrote it in the notes. it made sense there!
are there any books or anything resources i can read about planets? i find it really hard to personify them/give them characters.

heres my working out anyway. i’m not sure if my descriptions of the planets is accurate.

    * planets/actors/what *
    moon – cap 15.46 (10th house) – feelings (?)
    saturn – cap 11.29 (9th house) – illusion/spirituality (?)
    neptune – cap 11.19 (9th house) – freedom (?)
    uranus – cap 3.31 (9th house) – karma/discipline (?)

    * signs/costumes/how *
    cap – determined, ambitious, patient.
goat mascot – will climb to the top of any mountain where air is freshest/cleanest.

    * houses/stages/where *
9TH ruled by sagg – belief system, higher learning, adventure, exploration, morals
10TH ruled by cap – career, responsibility, reputation, desire for achievement, paternal figures, authority figures, material success

    * aspects/scripts/dialog between *
I HAVE NO IDEA so i’ll be returning to this once i understand aspects better 🙂

any insights? tips? hints? GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Wow timidgem – similar feel to my chart! Saturn and Neptune are very tight buddies in your chart! Neptune = illusions and what is hidden, Saturn = discipline and limitation. These energies are manifested in the realm of exploration and education, shown through in a Capricorn style (diligent, practical, driven).

There are so many wonderful text books – ready anything by Joanne Whickenburg (Journey through the birth chart is going to give you a strong foundation with key words and images. It’s only a few dollars in PDF on her website), Isobel Hickey has a book called Astrology A Cosmic Science – from the 60s but a deep understanding of the symbols. You can find it online in PDF for free. I’m pretty sure it’s a legal site.

For the houses, read Howard Sasportas.

Check google books for other resources online.

And yes, no need to jump into the aspects yet. Build on your understanding, signs, planets houses . . . you’re doing it!

Timidgem, this site is also a great resource. If you type in a planet in the search option mystic does such a great job both visually and through words in giving glimpses into these planets. She transformed my idea of saturn into a workable framework and the visuals really helped me. Art is worth a billion words.

thanks for the advice. mystic is so good in her use of language in helping me to mentally depict the planets.

I’m trying to work out who chart 1 might be but seriously have no clue – I’m like, succesful family and home life, but also a good social /party life?? Can’t think of who it could be, golly gosh. Brad Pitt?
    Second chart, I’m lost.

My own chart? I’ve got a stellium in 7th House – Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn. I’m thinking, relationships, obviously very important. It’s crazy because it hasn’t clicked til now – but I have a weird as thing with Capricorns. I know Arians and Caps are meant to be like ‘nuh-uh’ but i have this weird affiliation with them – not to sound vain or anything like that, but they are strangely attracted to me. I often find that i find myself in deep and quickly intense friendships with Capricorns where they rely on me – but the feeling for me is never that mutual, I often feel a claustrophobia, or a sense of duty underlying these relationships and one where I feel that i can never be completely honest with that person for fear of hurting their feelings.

Does this mean I’m feeding one planet in particular and depriving another? I know that Uranus is a kind of freedom, rebellion planet – am I right? So maybe Uranus is like “listen to me”, but Saturn’s like “do your duty” and I don’t even know about Neptune?

Help! But this is so great. Also – what are the ramifications of a 7th house stellium. I know ‘relations’ in general, but romance wise, I literally NEVER am in relationship, not for lack of wanting one, but anytime there’s the remote possibility I freak out.

For the first chart, a guy who is involved in home design, beautifying homes…and with Saturn Rising, someone who helps people create structure and order. Could be an architect or an interior designer or someone who advocates for children.

For the 2nd, a woman who helps people empower themselves around image or money? Like Suze Orman or someone like that? It could be expressed as being great with money, someone who gives off the aura of sensuality, ease…a royal figure, or a celebrity who acts like it? One of the Kardashians?

I myself have no stelliums but always find them fascinating.

I have a stellium in the 3rd house Venus, Mars, Sun in Sagg (pumped up by Jupiter ) and Mercury in Cap. Conjunct my IC. Mercury also rules the 3rd house and I have Libra Rising so Venus is my chart ruler. Quite a boisterous, chatty, witty group here. I enjoy nice things and tend to be generous & extravagant. I love to learn, I adore Words, Vocabulary, Languages, Books! I DO enjoy arguing my point ( insert annoying) tenaciously! I can be blunt & bossy ,but usually choose diplomacy & people pleasing paths. (Libra Rising?) I tend to over-do and over indulge, but am not lazy. I love solving problems & puzzles. I always have a lot going on ,but I am good at multi-tasking and fairly organized in my happy, busy chaos! (Mercury in Cap?) I do have a question about the weight of this stellium, since these inner planets are found conjunct often? Also how does an aspect relate to ta stellium vs. the individual planets in the group? I am an Astro-newbie and I am learning so much from the interpretations of you more experienced hackers Thanks!

I am a bit confused by this and would appreciate some feedback, are stelliums 3+ planets in one house, 3+ planets in one sign, or both? I have 3 planets in Scorpio (Pluto, Mars, and Saturn), but Pluto is in the first house, while Mars and Saturn are conjunct in the second. Likewise, I have three planets in Cap (Neptune, Jupiter, and Venus), but the first two are in the third house, while Venus is in the 4th. Would these be considered stellia?

The only house that has more than two planets (not counting asteroids) is my 3rd, which has Uranus conjunct the SN in Sag and Jupiter and Neptune in Cap. So if Gemini is natural ruler of the 3rd, this would enhance my Mercury, which is in Aqua. I imagine this as follows:

Uranus in Sag is a free-spirited type who enjoys traveling on a moment’s notice, whether for a short or long time, and often forgets to pack the necessities. Sometimes he’s really present in the house and really involved, and then sometimes he takes off, you can’t really rely on him to pay the rent or to show up to house meetings, and if he does, he’ll be spouting his latest knowledge gleaned from some obscure French philosopher because oh, he decided to learn French in the last few months, but only for reading knowledge, because speaking French is too banal.

Meanwhile, Neptune in Cap is kind of dreamy and spiritual and imaginative, but really likes to dream of practical things with tangible benefits, and is somewhat goal oriented. He likes to write, and to read, but he wants his writings to have some sort of positive and tangible effect on others and on himself. He’s pretty close buddies to Jupiter, who seems to always be egging him along with his ideas and imagination and sometimes even telling him to dream even bigger, but who is equally focused on tangible results.

Overall, the house is a garrulous one, but somewhat erratic, and there are sometimes miscommunications.

You asked: I am a bit confused by this and would appreciate some feedback, are stelliums 3+ planets in one house, 3+ planets in one sign, or both? ”

As per answer below: My stand is as per the email hack planets in either 1) the same sign or 2) the same house.

So 3 to 4+ planets all in the same house (any sign) or 3-4+ planets over two houses but all same sign.

Again, just like the 3-4 + rule, there is some controversy. This is the basis I use and from what I’ve seen over the decades, it works!

I have Mars in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio (in mutual reception) and you know, they have their own brand of play.

But I agree – they get really bad press.

I’m still bit confused here on whether or not a stellium in 3 or more in both sign and house or it’s an either or situation. I read somewhere while just reading astrology stuff, that the stellium had to be in same house and same sign. That’s why I am confused a bit, not totally, but…
    Here’s a drama:

Hey, Athena. Great question, as I’ve wondered about this too; I have Venus, Sun and Mercury all in Sagittarius.. but Mercury is in 10th wheres as Sun and Venus are in the 9th.
Same story with Sun, Venus and Pluto all being in the 9th house.. .but Pluto in Scorpio and the other 2 Sagittarius!

      • Reply ICPluto September 23, 2015 at 4:55 pm

Planets can be in the same house OR in the same sign.

I also read Donna Cunningham´s article on called “Transits to Stelliums and the Recurring Story Arcs They Trigger” and found it very interesting. I mention this just in case you want to read more about it.

        • Reply Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 5:29 pm

Yes, note in your email hack – planets in either 1) the same sign or 2) the same house. So all planets in the same sign over one or two houses or a mix of signs (or same) in one house.

It does take a bit to wrap the head around!

        • Reply Keith September 23, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Ok. I gotta complex question. And recurring themes recur on a recurring basis. And Mars/Venus loom large in my being. I got Mars Pluto Venus (0/2/9°) in Virgo /2H. And she (yes her) has got Venus Uranus Pluto (9/10/13°) in Virgo/6H. Our conjuncts are basically conjunct with Venus Pluto common. With Jup at 9°, & Mars approaching, & Nep Rx my stellium more in orb than hers.

Any help to understand this? There is much good synastry about us.
Soz to bore you with my LZ tendencies.

          • Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 11:01 pm

There is one very simple way to understand synastry (the comparing of one person’s chart to another).

People are like permanent transits. If someone has Ur/Pl on your Mars, it’s like having Ur/Pl transiting your Mars, all the time you are around them.

            People are permanent transits.

  • Reply Emma September 23, 2015 at 5:40 pm

So after thinking I didn’t have a stellium, I see I have three planets in the same sign, but not same house.

Mars (14degrees) and jupes (8 degrees) in the 8th – Virgo and Saturn (26 degrees) in the 9th – virgo.
    Does this count?

The three planets are all masculine, They have natal aspects to Mercury – the changeable.
Virgo is a feminine sign. I’m often described has having quite a masculine energy, wrapped up in a Pisces Venus (2nd House) unusual and sensual, lover of nice things that are different.

So, from what I’ve gleened off the interwebs is that the sign of the stellium boosts its natual ruler – for me this is Mercury.
Mercury in the 1st – comes back to the message, my pull toward writing. My need to convey certain – unconventional (1st house Aqua) ideas to the world. at large. Details and magic at the same time.

In the examples above – the male 4th & 5th house stellum seems to suggest a focus on Home, Family, Children and Nostalgia.
Uranus in the 10th – unconventional career? Or his approach to the career. Perhaps using his status in other ways?
Saturn in Aqua in the 12th – reinforces this unconventional outward personality – yet quite pragmatic at the same time.

The Example Above – the female. Venus in the 12th pisces – outward personality or perception as being quite a beautiful and sensual woman – portraying the beauty and wateryness of feminity. She was admired for this.
Her first and second house stellium – reinforces this focus on self identity and attempting to find security through this outward projection. A lover of nice things, materialistic or tries to find pleasure through things. Possibly a difficulty in reconciling the external and internal. These two things may have been vastly different to each other.
The stellium in Taurus – Possibly was percieved as quite a large and stable personality. Appearing bigger than reality. With the sun, mercury, saturn and uranus in there – it’s a bright and larger personality, some element of changeability or change. Unconventional and yet pragmatic at the same time. Taurus is supposed to be the settled, the stable – but in the first house suggests maybe restlessness?

    Really – I’ve no idea!

    • Reply Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 5:54 pm

But you do! I’ve posted the identities so see how you did! I find you touched on relevant ideas.

I would count your Virgo stellium there and link it to the image in the Hack #13 email – Mars and Jupiter buddy up and Saturn odd man out. Think of how the stellium boosts your 8th and 9th house, and the signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius in your cart too.

What connection can you make there?

      • Reply Emma September 24, 2015 at 5:51 pm

Yeah – WOW. OK. This little dance just got very interesting. The Stellium super-amps an interesting circuit.

8th House – Natal Jupes & Mars in there (virgo). This house is the Deep motvation, The Occult and Hidden things – life mysteries perhaps.
9th House – Natal Saturn in there (virgo) This house is influence on the larger community, knowledge and the pursuit of, ethics, morals, philosohies and beliefs. Also supports the influence of groups etc through writing and publishing.

Natural Virgo Ruler = Mercury. Natally in my 1st house. Mercury is the messenger. I have messages – unusual Aqua type ones – but new insights and approaches. Thought bubbles to chew on.

8th House natural ruler = Pluto/Scorp. Natal Pluto in the 10th conjunct MC (in Libra)
        9th House natual ruler = Jupes/Sagg

So the 8th house is amping the 9th house. The 8th house also amps it’s natual ruler (in my 10th – career).
The 8th house ruler’s costume (Scorp) is where my natal Uranus lives.
the 9th house rulers’s costime (Sagg) is where my Neptune lives.
Saturn in the 9th amps it’s natural Capricorn – my Ascendent.

Natal Mars in the 8th amps it’s natural home of Aries – where my natal IC is (and nothing else).

To me this is really reinforcing the whole writing thing. The types of things I write about, the esoteric, occult, metaphysic, mystical, ‘hidden realities’. This is naturally who I am, and when I go against this – schizz goes bad.
Jupes Says – focus on this – while amping Saturn. Both being in Virgo – the details, the precision. Saturn gets to work, and pulls on the native ascendent – the way I am. 8th house sends a pulse to the natural ruler – Pluto in the career sector – ensuring that I’m not dilly-dallying in the wrong areas, breaking down the BS – keeping me between the white lines and not crashing into guardrails. 9th house sends a pulse to Natural ruler and Costume – Neptune is wearing that this time. I go deep – but emerge with clarity and details – thanks to virgo. It’s all weighed up and balanced – thanks to Pluto in Libra, with a unique flavour of Unconventionality – a new set of eyes (Uranus wearing Scorp – normally Pluto’s digs).

It’s a circuit. Hardware running personalised software.

  • Reply Antonia September 23, 2015 at 8:31 pm

Does Chiron count or does that just complicate things?

    • Reply Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 9:46 pm

Such a good question. If there are only 3 planets and Chiron is one of them, I tend not to give it as much weight as the “big 10”. If we start addend Centaurs, asteroids and other bodies, the whole chart fills in. Yes, these extra bodies can add emphasis, but for the ground work, I like to see 3 or more of the 10 planets involved. If Chiron makes it 4, or 5, awesome, but bottom line, for me, is 3 majors.

I’m not saying Chiron (or Ceres or Vesta or Lilith or Eros . . .) don’t carry weight, but we have to draw the line somewhere or the entire chart is blacked out with space objects.

Who said, “If everything counts then nothing means anything?”

Philosophically, that might be a universal truth, or not. But let’s keep it to a core group of planets.

I have a 5th house stellium in Scorpio square an 8th house stellium in Aquarius.

5H: Sun, Chiron, Mercury, Pluto, Vertex (+ many asteroids)
    8H: Moon, Jupiter, Uranus

A very wild ride. The cusp of my 5th house is at 29 degrees Libra however, so I am wondering if that changes the energy at all..?

    • Reply Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 10:58 pm

You still have the Su/Me/Plu in Scorp in 5th, right? That puts the emphasis on the 5th regardless of the cusp sign. But having Libra there means you “enter” the fifth in Libra mode and plunge into the Scorpio energy once there. Libra is your way in.

  • Reply Maree September 23, 2015 at 9:56 pm

Do we include the Ascendant as well, or only the planets?

I have a stellium in Virgo with Mars and Mercury conjunct in the first house, and the Sun and Pluto in the second.

I have another stellium in the second house with the Sun and Pluto (conjunct in Virgo) and Uranus in Libra.

If we include the Asc then, I have Asc in Leo as well as Mercury and Mars in my first house.

The second house has been very prominent throughout my life, with work being a major focus as a way to feed my intense need for security and stability (financial, home). I’m not particularly materialistic, but when I do buy things, they are usually good quality and appeal aesthetically which reflects the Taurus/Venus rule of the second house. My Virgo qualities are very prominent and great for executing what I need to for the second house; however, I think these do “dampen” some of the more fiery placements in my chart (Ascendant and Moon).

    • Reply Kimmy September 23, 2015 at 10:52 pm

Great focus on Virgo, and the second house stellia.

Just a note, we don’t include the Asc or MC or POF etc as they are not planets. We’re looking at the ten main planets only. The Ascendant is a house cusp, so in that sense like any of the other 11 cusps.

Still, the first and second houses involved give you an added emphasis of Aries and Taurus, Mars and Venus.

      Lots going on!

I just want to say that I am absolutely loving this process. The scientist in me always wants proof, and using yourself as a reference point is just too subjective. Using other people seems like a great way to not only learn, but to establish that astrology works in a coherent systematic way. My sun in Aqua and moon in Virgo approves.
Could we flip it too, and see if we can come up with the chart for a known personage?

    Hi there,
I have Mercury, Sun and Jupiter (and North Node) in the ninth house in Capricorn and then Venus, Mars and Neptune all together in the eighth house in Sag (also Lilith and more asteroids). So, this weekend I am meditating in the Oneness Global Festival as I am a devotee of Oneness (for nine years now). This involves LOTS of Shiva and Shakti energy and transcendental states and visions for my eighth house to devour. The high bliss states of communion with my divine nourish the existential hunger in the ninth house and express the expanded consciousness that Sun and Jupiter demands, ever onwards and upwards in Capricorn. I have powerful drive and endurance in my spiritual life not matched in other spheres of life. As Mars and Venus in the eighth dictates I have worked in the sex industry in the past which I loved.

No doubt I will gush about the sublime divine (ninth house) after this weekend eclipse event expressing my Mercury in it’s most favourite voice; though I think my Capricorn Sun cautions me harshly to at least try not to sound too flaky, and to please temper my speaking about spiritual ecstasy with some logic and decorum. The actual Kundalini meditations, breathing and energy blessings, the intense states – that stuff can go full throttle Eighth house Mars Venus Neptune style. Bring it on!

My littlest daughter has two stelliums (or stellia). She has Neptune, Venus, Chiron in The fourth house in Aqua, then still within thirty degrees but in the third house in Cap Jupiter and Mercury. Hope this doesn’t mean mad, delusional Mother issues in need of healing.

Then she’s got a Sun, Pluto, Mars and moon all within 8 degrees in the second house in Cap, though the Moon falls into first house Sag. Technically, Mercury and Jupiter in Cap in the third house fall within thirty degrees forming part of the second stellium too. Does that make Jupiter and Mercury really important? Sun, moon and Mars in Cap in the second together sounds like a powerhouse that goes LARGE…with the big dollars… any ideas how this might express?

Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter all in Aquarius in the 11th.

Mars, Moon, Saturn, Uranus in Sagg in the 9th, with Neptune in Capricorn sitting close to the 10th house cusp. Juno in Sagg in there too, on my shitty Moon-Saturn conjunction.

I feel the Sagg stellium, been studying on and off since leaving school (11 years ago!), 2 degrees down and now eyeing up a Masters next year to build on what I have done. Ultimately I’d like to do medicine.
The weird thing is I have done hardly any international travel, all the study leaving me broke has restricted that.

My Saturn Return is imminent over that stellium…Saturn is parked on my mars at the moment, but I’m not feeling anything as such.

As for the Aqua stellium? I have no idea!

How do you relate when it comes to “one-to-many” as opposed to one-to-one?

Who is your tribe, online or off?

        Hey, thanks Kimmy!

Online. My tribe is spread around the country so online it is. Not so good at making new friends and expanding the tribe 🙁

I have Mercury, Sun and Jupiter in Aqua (mostly) in the 11th too, and I hit up the social media big time. I know people might knock that as shallow, but I’ve found it great for keeping in touch with distant friends and engaging support for social change.

A century ago we might have been rabid letter-writers.

            That’s so true – the avid letter-writer.

            Pen pals!

The online spaces may be metaphorical, but the relationships formed there are every bit as real and meaningful as face to face.

Finally catching up on my astro homework after a busy week!

Ok, so my 1st house has a 4 planet stellium

    Actors: Uranus, Mercury, Neptune, Venus
Costume: split down the middle (no pun intended) — Sag (Uranus & Mercury) Cap (Neptune & Venus) .
Stage: 1st House – Self Identity.
Script: Uranus 12 degrees Sag, Mercury 21 degrees Sag/ Neptune 0 Cap Venus 10 degrees Cap

Since both have played such a big role in my life, for my interpretation I actually see the rulers of a Sagittarius and Capricorn Jupiter and Saturn playing a big hand in the production. They of course would act as stage moms and attend every rehearsal and bicker with one another in the audience. Saturn claiming her half (Nep & Venus) are far more seasoned and classically trained, while Jupiter spends most of her time bragging about her half (Uranus & Mercury) on social media and how famous they’ll be one day. With Jupiter and Saturn in the mix the actors themselves are more pawns for their own aspirations. The script is constantly being re-written in regards to what creative direction should be taken.

Love the idea of journaling keywords images etc for each planet, and love your hacks Kimmy!

I’m so glad you are enjoying them, Saggobones,

And your delineation is spot on! Love the stage mom ref. Perfect!

love the examples and the stelluim thing makes so much sense. I have 10th house and 6th house stelliums.

Hmm. I’m just looking at a friend’s chart and see that she has a T square with her Gem moon and Sag Neptune pointing at her Virgo stellium (Sun, Merc, Jup, Sat). Hopefully as Jupiter transits through the stellium (starts at 10 Virgo), she’ll find some ease.

  • Reply funickity September 25, 2015 at 12:33 am

The 5th house is the main gig in my chart with Sun Pluto and Uranus all there in Virgo. All the expected things like lots of children, artistic pursuits etc. Looking at Leo planets, I have mercury and moon in the fourth

Opposite this big party is Saturn and Chiron in the 11th. I’m guessing that this is very significant and as I’m peaking with my Chiron return I do feel the heat.

Having a length of life behind me though, I can see the patterns and almost anticipate the repeating performances over the years. The actors change but the roles are similar.

It seems that I thrive in certain groups at certain times, but the lesson is that there is a use by date, and if I linger in any group for longer than the necessary time there could need to be a painful ousting. I have thoroughly examined these situations and come up with the same thing each time, that to cling on for the sake of comfort and security is fatal.

All this sounds very dramatic but to a casual observer it would just look like “she’s moved on, she does not hang out so much with that crew anymore, no hard feelings, that’s life” Well yes, and intellectually this is what I know too. On another level though I can still feel the sting of loss and grief as though I were a five yr old rejected from the schoolyard gang. Even though nowadays I feel much more as though it is me consciously moving away to healthier pastures!

I have Jupiter transiting my 5th house now and it’s exuberantly hectic and chaotic. Lots of old friends in town (11th house ghosts) My house is so full of holidaying guests and drop in visitors, I snuck out to yoga this morning and cried on the mat.

Ok, I have a stellium in the 4th house in Libra: Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter (and POF)

I also have an overlapping stellium: Sun, Ascendant, North Node, Mercury in Cancer

North Node, Mercury, Venus in the 12th House in Cancer/Gemini

I AM my home. If my home is a mess, I’m a mess. If it’s a beautiful sanctuary, I am a beautiful sanctuary, and so on.

How does the overlapping stellium work?

  • Reply Fauness September 25, 2015 at 2:37 pm

My husband has libra stellium in the 2nd with Moon at 6, Pluto at 8, and Mercury at 10. He meditates a lot and maintains a calm demeanor, but when he’s mad, watch out! Has had a lot of issues with value and self-worth but he’s come a long way. He’s the kid who lived next to a junkyard, apartments, trailers, etc and now we live in a nice secluded wooded setting. He has a great esthetic sense, and to see that at work probably helps his moon. I have moon in the 2nd sextile Pluto, so that helps.

I’m late to the stellium game but I got excited and wanted to share: I have a Saturn/Uranus/Neptune stellium in Capricorn across the 11th (Ur) and 12th (Sa/Ne) houses. I never really knew what to do with it but kind of resent it—Kimmy mentioned in the last hack about the chart “tone” that we have a tendency to reject the aspects of the outer planets (I definitely did not think of myself as Earthy nor Capricorn, and yet my chart is pulled that way because of this same Sa/Ur/Ne clump). But now that I’m beginning to understand the weight of these slow-movers, it’s starting to make a lot of sense.

Like it or not, I’ve got a strong Cappy vibe. And perhaps I DO like it, since I tend to date Capricorns, or admire them a lot. It’s interesting that the stellium intensifies Pisces and Aquarius, both already big figures in my chart (powerfully-aspected 1H Venus in Pisces, and Aqua is my chart ruler w/ 1H Mars). Saturn’s pretty happy being in Capricorn, and I think Uranus in 11H/Neptune in 12H is a bit of a boost too (actors on their favorite sets, but maybe itchy costumes). And having such a strong 11/12H focus is definitely hard to deal with.

BUT I think I got so excited in sitting with this information about my stellium because it think I’m doing a pretty good job of tending to it at the moment. Capricorn loves structure, goal-oriented ambition, and a certain purity of focus. 11H is community and idealism, and 12H is about the soul and sublimation. I find all of this touched by my love of rock climbing/backpacking/the outdoors. Like flashfire mentioned to me in the Elements hack, rock climbing is a SUPER Cappy sport; the spiritual/sublime side of being outdoors (12H) combined with volunteering, stewardship and eco activism (11H) makes me feel happier, more focused, and more grounded. So all that is kind of getting taken care of through this sport/lifestyle.

The more I make rock climbing/being out in nature a priority, the more things click into place. I’m able to find a sense of freedom and unconventional excitement out there (making Uranus happy), while also learning complex, ordered rope/safety systems and making sure everything is in its right place in order to achieve a difficult goal (hello, Saturn)…and then just being in nature, feeling the weight of the sky and the rock, it’s most definitely a spiritual experience I don’t and can’t get anywhere else (Neptune is stoked). It’s kinda all there.

So…that means I should quit grad school and be a mountain bum now, right? That would make me happiest? (9H Pluto & 5H Jupiter shake their head and tell me to get back to work on my thesis.)

    • Reply Oneirix September 26, 2015 at 10:36 pm

And, not to make an already extremely long comment longer (3H Taurus Mercury, sorry), but Pluto is conjunct my Uranus and Neptune now—cue a VERY strong call to the mountains and constant daydreams about escape.

My stellium is Sun/Venus/Merc/Saturn in Sag. Sun/Venus is in 1st house and opposite my moon and Sat is trine (blue line?) Pluto and Uranus. Merc &
Sat are in 2nd house. Then I’ve got 3 planets: Jup/Sun/Venus in the 1st house with Jup opposite Mars. Hmm. What to make of that? I’m thinking now Jackie Collins is gone (RIP) maybe I should try my hand at writing some saucy literature. I am most comfortable with reinvention, something I am currently undergoing. I suppose this placement in Sag encourages me to be carefree about such reinvention? Actually good things are coming to me just in sitting back and waiting for them to come to me….

Back (post eclipse) to do some hack catch up.

My only stellium is in Capricorn and it’s the Moon and Venus conjunct at a degree apart and then Mars 12 degrees from Venus .. with Pluto currently conjunct.

So.. up until recently I’d been considering Capricorn as my 8th.. which sort of made sense to me and I haven’t quite settled the idea of a Cap 9th and how that plays out. Now I’m working as an 8th house Sun.. and chuckling at that.. quite a bit because I’d say it fits better and it makes my 7th Scorp and THAT makes a LOT of sense to me also when looking at the stellium. These 3 houses having a bit of a rejig is probably quite aptly timed.

Physically looking at the chart it looks like a 2/8 axis and Part of Fortune is opposite as is Vesta..and they’re actually 3rd house. So I guess another curious observation for me is the reminder that looks can be deceiving, that what appears is not always as it appears. Hmmm…

Trying to consider the Saggi influence in Cap (which is my Sun/Mercury) feels sort of unnatural and restricted and from that I’m musing over whether Cap may be a restrictive influence in the 9th theme overall.

I do think that Venus might enjoy the 9th vibe and the quests fro truth but perhaps from a relationship perspective.. be that 1/1, to learning, to exploring etc so not limited to people perse. Mars would likely create the motivation or energy I expect and maybe a bit of dogma or rigidity on a particular version of the truth when invested. I’ve experienced that.. but given my mutable nature eventually I release that to more fluid and loose concepts in general.

The moon in the 9th is the emotional satisfaction I derive from these things, going deeper, or under the surface of any philosophical or truth quests. It’s my intuitive sense of whether something rings as true or worth following but it can be dissatisfied at times if the emotion expected isn’t actually there when I ‘arrive’ and can ask me to quest further or broader.. or over the fence in a grass is greener type way. So I guess I have an underlying restlessness even when content.

As far as the Cap theme goes. Mars is happy there and gives me a lot of determination but.. not as much self control in the past as you’d expect. It does afford me the ability to remain cool under various pressures.. but some of that has been a learning and evolving thing not all natural talent. Venus in Cap might make me a bit on the serious side about what or who I invest in and I wonder if she’s what drives my needs for privacy or my sometimes fluctuating moods. In her position to the moon I think they both know how to dive pretty deep into the darkness of emotions and usually prefer this to be an offline thing. Perhaps these two lasses buddy up on those underworld journeys and Mars hangs off to the side as the strong masculine that holds the rope to carry the weight of the climb to the surface.. or if/when necessary he just hauls the girls up with his sheer strength and will?

Venus gets extra oomph because she is my patron planet and Mars is at home either in my 7th (back to rels) or my 12th so back to the unconscious or unseen realms and I have been told on numerous occasions that I’m super calm in chaos or crisis. It’s like everything quiets down for me as it’s all getting nuts for everyone else and I just start assessing the terrain quite methodically albeit quickly if necessary and begin to execute strategies to contain, diffuse or exit. I’ve watched myself sometimes. It feels a little like I’m there but can also witness myself and it’s bizarre really. It has a strange energy to it that I don’t always feel is my own.

I don’t know.. as I said I’m adjusting to a slight house flip with a couple of houses and haven’t sunk into their vibration yet so am typing out ideas whilst I think.. yes.. this could be a little loooong when I hit post but y’know.. I’m hitting it anyway 🙂

I’ve almost given up making any sense out of my crazy first house stellium. Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and Mercury all in the first house in the sign of Capticorn. My Aquarian Venus is too aloof to cuddle up with any of these titans, but she did squeeze her way into the last degrees of the first house.

I am one part poet wino living under a bridge and one part five star general.
